Super Bowl Champion Kicker Extends Helping Hand to Harry Kane Pursuing NFL Aspirations.

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane's aspiration to transition to the NFL has received a significant boost, with Super Bowl champion Dustin Colquitt offering to help him achieve his dream. Kane, who has made no secret of his desire to one day play in the NFL, has found an ally in Colquitt, a former punter for the Kansas City Chiefs who won the Super Bowl in 2020.

Kane's interest in American football dates back over a decade, spurred by a documentary about Tom Brady. He admires Brady and even attended the Patriots' Super Bowl victory in 2019, meeting Brady and Julian Edelman. The 32-year-old Kane believes the pressure he faces taking penalty kicks in soccer is similar to the pressure NFL kickers experience. In a 2023 interview, Kane acknowledged the hard work required, stating, "I'm not expecting to just rock up and start kicking field goals. It would be a lot of practice". Despite being under contract with Bayern Munich until 2027, Kane's NFL ambitions remain "in the back of my mind".

Colquitt, a longtime soccer fan himself, having dreamt of playing in the Premier League, believes Kane has the potential to succeed in the NFL. He told BBC Sport that Kane "would do fantastic" if he focused on it, impressed by Kane's "finishing skills". Colquitt, who spent 15 years with the Chiefs, has offered to work with Kane, stating, "when he's ready, I'm ready". He emphasized the importance of the punter-kicker relationship, noting the punter's role in ensuring proper ball placement for field goals.

Kane has drawn parallels between the precision needed for soccer penalty kicks and NFL field goals. Several former soccer players have successfully transitioned to the NFL, including Toni Fritsch, who won a Super Bowl ring in 1972, and Clive Allen, who played for the London Monarchs. Current NFL kickers like Brandon Aubrey, Harrison Butker, and Cairo Santos also have backgrounds in soccer.

Henry Winter, a football journalist, speculated that Kane could become an NFL kicker within three years of retiring from soccer, highlighting Kane's friendship with Tom Brady. While Kane is currently focused on his career with Bayern Munich, where he has continued his prolific scoring record, his NFL dream remains alive. He has scored 13 goals in his first seven games of the 2025-26 campaign, and is close to 100 goals for Bayern.

However, some have cautioned Kane about the potential challenges of switching to the NFL. Giuseppe Rossi, a former Manchester United striker, jokingly warned about the physicality of the sport, particularly the risk of injury for kickers. Despite these concerns, Kane's determination and the support from figures like Dustin Colquitt suggest that his NFL dream may one day become a reality.
