Spalletti Praises Juventus' Strong Character Displayed Against Sporting Despite Draw, Highlighting Positive Aspects.

Luciano Spalletti has expressed his satisfaction with Juventus' performance, despite their 1-1 draw against Sporting CP in the Champions League on Tuesday. The result leaves Juventus still searching for their first win in the competition this season.

Spalletti, who recently took over from Igor Tudor following an eight-game winless streak, saw his team fall behind to an early goal from Sporting's Maximiliano Araujo. However, Dusan Vlahovic equalized in the 34th minute, earning Juventus a point in Turin.

"I'm pleased with the performance of the team. We showed that we have character, and the guys showed their desire to win the game," Spalletti said. "If we play like this going forward, we'll win plenty of matches."

Spalletti acknowledged the difficult start to the match, but praised his team's reaction. "We had a complicated start, then this great reaction, we took the game in hand and deserved to take the lead, creating three or four good chances," he told Sky Sport Italia. He also noted that Juventus lost the ball too cheaply at the beginning and struggled under pressure, but generally played well afterward. "The reaction we got right from the start gave me hope, it seemed as though the whole stadium understood the team's approach well, and that's a good sign," Spalletti added.

Despite the draw, Spalletti remains confident in his team's ability. "What gives me satisfaction and makes me confident is that there are strong players in the team who have shown important qualities that make a difference in the game," he said. He highlighted the quality and ability of players like Dusan Vlahovic to take on opponents.

Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners echoed his manager's sentiments, stating that the team displayed many positive aspects but also identified areas needing improvement. Koopmeiners also mentioned he felt more comfortable in a deeper role against Sporting, a preference he communicated to Spalletti and the club's representatives.

Looking ahead, Spalletti emphasized the need to improve the speed of passing and ball circulation to challenge opponents effectively. He also pointed out the risk of being too attacking against a team like Sporting, which excels in tight spaces. "We took possession off them and at times were a little too frenetic with our choices, giving the ball back after winning it," Spalletti noted.

Juventus will continue their Champions League campaign with a trip to Bodo/Glimt on November 25, while Sporting will host Club Brugge. Spalletti remains optimistic about Juventus' chances, saying, "I still believe this is a strong team, I am convinced that if we continue with this spirit, we will win many games". He also acknowledged the support of the home crowd, expressing that the atmosphere in the stadium was beautiful and well-received by the players. "There is room for improvement, but together we can find some satisfaction," Spalletti concluded.
