Liverpool's manager, Arne Slot, is facing a challenging situation regarding the reintegration of star winger Mohamed Salah into the squad. The Egyptian player's future at Anfield is uncertain after he expressed his displeasure with his lack of playing time.

Following Liverpool's morale-boosting 1-0 victory against Inter Milan in the Champions League, Slot was questioned about Salah's potential return. A late penalty by Dominik Szoboszlai secured the win, helping Liverpool get back on track after a poor run of form. However, the focus quickly shifted to Salah's absence, as he was removed from the squad after criticizing Slot's decision to bench him for three consecutive matches.

When asked directly if he would bring Salah back into the team, Slot emphasized the importance of focusing on the victory against Inter Milan and the players who contributed to it. He acknowledged that questions about Salah would likely continue, but he wanted the team's achievements to be recognized.

Clarence Seedorf, an Amazon Prime pundit, pressed Slot further, stating that there was a need to understand the situation and address the assumptions being made. Slot hinted at what Salah needs to do to return to the team, implying that an apology to the club, fans, and manager might be necessary.

Slot admitted he was surprised by Salah's outburst and stated he was unsure if Salah would play for Liverpool again. Despite the uncertainty, Slot maintained that he believes there is always a possibility for a player to return. He also clarified that he did have a relationship with Salah, though they didn't always agree on everything.

The Liverpool boss had left Salah out of the starting lineup for three consecutive Premier League matches and also omitted him from the Champions League squad. The decision was made in consultation with the club, with full support of Slot, after Salah's comments following the 3-3 draw against Leeds United.

Salah's remarks about being "thrown under the bus" and being scapegoated for Liverpool's poor form were seen as indirect criticism of Slot. However, Slot asserted that his authority had not been undermined and that the situation was more difficult for the team and the club.

Before joining up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, Liverpool has a home game against Brighton. The transfer window will also be open at that time, and several clubs in Saudi Arabia and Europe have been linked with interest in Salah. Slot said he has "no clue" whether Salah has played his last game for Liverpool. "I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player. But that is not...I can leave it with that I think," he added.
