Arne Slot Dismisses Mohamed Salah Transfer Concerns Following Forward's Return to Liverpool Squad.

Liverpool's head coach, Arne Slot, has downplayed concerns surrounding Mohamed Salah's future with the club, following the forward's return to the squad. The Egyptian international is set to join his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), but uncertainties linger regarding his long-term stay at Anfield.

Salah's future came into question after a public outburst following being benched for a third consecutive game against Leeds. The 33-year-old voiced his displeasure, accusing the club of throwing him "under the bus" and suggesting potential attempts to force him out. These comments led to his exclusion from the squad that faced Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Despite the turmoil, Salah was included in the squad for the recent 2-0 victory against Brighton. Coming off the bench in the first half, Salah played a role in Hugo Ekitike's goal, contributing a corner that led to the score. This assist marked Salah's 277th Premier League goal involvement, surpassing Wayne Rooney's record.

Slot addressed the situation, stating that he had a conversation with Salah on Friday and insisted that there was "no issue to resolve". He emphasized that Salah is now being treated like any other player in the squad. "For me, there is no issue to resolve. He is now the same as any other player," Slot said. He also noted that actions speak louder than words and that Salah's performance against Brighton was what everyone, including himself, wanted to see. Slot added, "The moment he is there I like to use him when we need him. When he came in, he had the performance like you would want him to to give".

Amidst the speculation, Liverpool reportedly remains keen on retaining Salah, despite the "bewildering" turn of events. Salah's contract with Liverpool has 18 months remaining and he earns more than £400,000 per week. While not completely opposed to a move, particularly to Saudi Arabia, Liverpool is not actively pursuing a January sale, even with Saudi clubs reportedly valuing him at around £100 million.

Slot has confirmed that talks have occurred between Salah's representatives and the club. He also stated that the decision to leave Salah out of the match in Milan was made after discussions within the club. Despite the recent conflict, Slot has said he has "no reason not wanting him to stay".

Salah's future remains a topic of discussion, with some suggesting he should consider a "new life" away from Liverpool. BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Chris Waddle suggested that Salah should submit a transfer request in January if he is unhappy and explore opportunities in the MLS.

As Salah prepares to represent Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations, the club is expected to continue discussions with his representatives. The outcome of these talks and Salah's performances upon his return from international duty will likely play a significant role in determining his future at Liverpool.
