Wayne Rooney Praises Liam Rosenior: Highlighting Exceptional Coaching Skills and Impactful Collaboration Throughout His Career.

Wayne Rooney has lauded Liam Rosenior as one of the best coaches he has ever worked with, amidst reports that Rosenior is poised to become the new head coach of Chelsea. Rosenior, currently managing Strasbourg, is expected to leave his position to take over from Enzo Maresca at the West London club.

Rooney's endorsement comes as Rosenior is rumored to have arrived in London on Sunday for discussions with Chelsea's hierarchy. The potential move marks a significant step up for the 41-year-old, who previously served as Rooney's assistant at Derby County. He later took on the role of interim manager in 2022 following Rooney's departure. Rosenior then spent two years as Hull City's boss, where he narrowly missed out on the Sky Bet Championship play-offs before being dismissed in 2024.

Since July 2024, Rosenior has been at the helm of Strasbourg, impressing during his tenure. The club shares the same ownership as Chelsea, potentially smoothing the path for his transition to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on the BBC's Wayne Rooney Show, Rooney expressed his strong belief in Rosenior's abilities: "If he goes in there, he won't disappoint. He's been waiting for an opportunity like this." Rooney emphasized that Rosenior has diligently prepared for such an opportunity, stating, "If you don't take it now, then you're never going to take it. And I think he's done his apprenticeship, he's done his work to try and get to that job".

Rooney voiced his hope for Rosenior's appointment, highlighting the significance for young English coaches: "So he'll have no doubts in his mind that he's capable of doing that job. And hopefully, very soon, we hear that he is the manager, because for young English coaches I think it's massive." He further added, "He's taken chances and hopefully that pays off because I think Liam is as good a coach as I've ever worked with. His detail, how he approaches the day-to-day, he's as good as I've worked with".

Rosenior's potential move to Chelsea would be his most high-profile job to date, marking a significant moment in his managerial career. His previous experiences, coupled with Rooney's strong recommendation, suggest he is well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
