Teams and Format
The 38 participating teams are divided into Elite and Plate groups. The Elite category consists of 32 teams, further divided into four groups of eight teams each. The Plate group includes the remaining six teams. In the Elite groups, teams compete in a round-robin format, with each team playing the other once. The top two teams from each Elite group advance to the quarter-finals. The Plate group follows a similar format, and the top two teams play a final to determine promotion to the Elite group for the next season.

This season holds particular significance due to the participation of high-profile Indian cricketers. The BCCI has mandated that centrally contracted players participate in at least two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, adding star power to the competition. Virat Kohli is playing in the tournament after 15 years, and Rohit Sharma is also participating for Mumbai. Rishabh Pant is captaining the Delhi team, while Shardul Thakur is leading Mumbai. However, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are resting from Round 6 matches to prepare for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.
