Sai Sudharsan Injured: Misses West Indies Day 3, BCCI Releases Update on Painful Fielding Incident.

Sai Sudharsan was absent from the field on Day 3 of the second Test match between India and the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, following a painful fielding incident. The incident occurred on Day 2 when Sudharsan took a catch at short leg.

During the West Indies' first innings, Sudharsan was fielding at forward short leg when John Campbell played a sweep shot off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling. The ball struck Sudharsan's hands as he attempted the catch. Despite successfully taking the catch to dismiss Campbell, Sudharsan sustained an impact injury. He immediately walked off the field to receive medical treatment, and Devdutt Padikkal substituted for him for the remainder of the day.

The BCCI Medical Team issued an update on Sudharsan's condition, stating that he had an impact injury while attempting the catch on Day 2. As a precautionary measure, he did not field on Day 3. The BCCI further clarified that the injury was not serious, and Sudharsan is "doing fine" and is being monitored by the medical team.

Before his fielding mishap, Sai Sudharsan had made a significant contribution with the bat, scoring a composed 87 off 165 balls in India's first innings. He formed a 193-run partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, helping India reach a dominant position in the match. Sudharsan's innings included a 243-run partnership with Jaiswal after KL Rahul was dismissed for 38. Jaiswal went on to score 175 before a run-out mix-up with Shubman Gill ended his innings. Shubman Gill also contributed with a century, and India declared their first innings at 518/5.

The catch that led to Sudharsan's injury was a remarkable one, showcasing his agility and reflexes at short leg. Social media posts of Sudharsan practicing hard for short-leg catches with T. Dilip had gone viral after the catch.

India aims to restrict the West Indies and secure a series win in Delhi.
