Dhaka, Bangladesh – In a stunning display of skill and determination, the Indian archery team ended South Korea's dominance at the Asian Archery Championships, clinching their first gold medal since. The compound archers led the charge, securing a total of three gold and two silver medals at the 24th edition of the championships held in Dhaka.

The women's team, consisting of V. Jyothi Surekha, Deepshikha, and Prithika Pradeep, showcased exceptional teamwork and precision to defeat Korea in a thrilling final with a score of 236-234. The Indian trio maintained composure under pressure, securing the victory with identical scores of 59 in all four ends. Their remarkable performance not only secured the gold medal but also marked a significant milestone in Indian archery.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam continued her impressive form in the individual women's compound event, where she faced compatriot Prithika Pradeep in an all-Indian final. Jyothi secured the gold medal with a score of 147-145, while Prithika claimed the silver, ensuring a clean sweep for India in the event. Earlier in the semifinals, Jyothi defeated Chen Si-yu from Taipei 149-143, and Prithika overcame Kulsum Mone from Bangladesh 146-145.

The mixed team event witnessed another stellar performance from the Indian duo of Abhishek Verma and Deepshikha, who defeated Bangladesh 153-151 in the final. The pair demonstrated excellent coordination and consistency, maintaining steady scores throughout the match. This victory marked India's second consecutive gold in the compound mixed team event, following Aditi Swami and Priyansh's success in Bangkok two years ago.

While the Indian archers dominated the women's and mixed team events, the men's team narrowly missed out on the gold medal. The team, comprising Abhishek Verma, Sahil Jadhav, and Prathamesh Fuge, fought hard but lost to Kazakhstan by a single point, settling for silver with a score of 229-230. Despite the narrow defeat, their performance reflected India's growing strength in compound archery.

The Asian Archery Championships 2025 served as a platform for Indian archers to showcase their talent and potential on the international stage. Jyothi Surekha Vennam's outstanding performance, with gold medals in both the individual and team events, highlighted her as a key player in Indian archery. The success of the women's team, the mixed team, and the individual performances underscored India's growing dominance in compound archery. With the recurve medal matches scheduled for the following day, India was poised to add more medals to their tally.
