Mumbai, December 20, 2025 – The Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held from February 7 to March 8, will be announced today. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is set to unveil the 15-member squad at 1:30 PM IST at the BCCI Headquarters, Cricket Centre, Mumbai. All eyes are on whether India can defend their title as the defending champions.
BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav will attend a press conference following the announcement. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. The 2026 T20 World Cup is set to be Suryakumar Yadav's last assignment as captain of the Indian team in T20Is.
The biggest question revolves around the form of Shubman Gill. While he is tipped to be the vice-captain, his selection may not be guaranteed after recent struggles and injury concerns. There are debates about whether Gill warrants a spot in the team, considering his current form. Sanju Samson has been a top performer for India recently and is likely to play a key role in the T20 World Cup.
According to reports, the selectors are keen to maintain the same squad that won the Asia Cup, potentially including Rinku Singh but excluding Washington Sundar.

- Suryakumar Yadav (Captain)
- Shubman Gill (Vice-Captain)
