Soderblom's Stellar Saves and Bertuzzi's Two Goals Lead Blackhawks to Thrilling Shootout Victory Against Stars

In a thrilling contest at the American Airlines Center on Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks overcame the Dallas Stars in a 4-3 shootout victory. Arvid Soderblom's stellar performance, stopping 28 shots, and Tyler Bertuzzi's two goals in regulation were key to the Blackhawks' success.

Bertuzzi opened the scoring early in the first period, finding the back of the net with a snap shot. The Stars responded later in the period with a goal from Nils Lundkvist. In the second, Jason Dickinson, a former Star, put the Blackhawks ahead again, only for Justin Hryckowian to quickly tie the game.

The third period saw Mikko Rantanen give the Stars their first lead, but Bertuzzi answered swiftly with his second goal of the night, mirroring Rantanen's play. Despite a scoreless overtime, the Blackhawks ultimately prevailed in the shootout. Ryan Donato and Nick Lardis scored in the shootout, sealing the win for Chicago.

The Blackhawks, missing key players like Connor Bedard, Frank Nazar, and captain Nick Foligno due to injuries, displayed resilience against the Stars. Ilya Mikheyev was also absent, as he was away from the team following the birth of his child. Soderblom's performance was particularly noteworthy, earning his first victory since November 18th. He demonstrated composure, especially during the third period and overtime, where the Stars mounted significant pressure. Soderblom was credited with 2.11 goals saved above expected and stopped 15 of 17 high-danger shots.

Alex Vlasic contributed significantly with two assists, playing a team-high 25:45 of ice time. Dickinson also contributed with a goal. This victory snapped the Blackhawks' six-game losing streak. The Stars, despite the loss, remain high in the league standings.
