Edmonton Oilers forward Jack Roslovic is proving to be a valuable asset, providing crucial support to the team's star players, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Since joining the Oilers, Roslovic has showcased his versatility and scoring ability, earning the trust of the coaching staff and the appreciation of his teammates.
Roslovic's journey to Edmonton began on October 8, 2025, when he signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the team. The 28-year-old Ohio native, drafted by Winnipeg in 2015, brings a wealth of experience from his time with the Jets, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes. Known for his speed and shooting ability, Roslovic has consistently demonstrated the potential to be a reliable offensive contributor.
In recent practices, Roslovic has been seen centering the third line between Mattias Janmark and Trent Frederic, indicating a possible shift in his role. This adaptability is a significant asset for the Oilers, providing Head Coach Kris Knoblauch with options to optimize line combinations and create matchup advantages. "It's always something I've loved the challenge of," Roslovic said, regarding playing center. "It's an option; a viable option, too. It's always something I've strived to do. If we can get some chemistry on the line, (it will be) another way to help the team".
Prior to December 29, 2025, in 26 games with Edmonton, Roslovic has contributed 10 goals and 8 assists. Despite missing 11 games due to a foot injury sustained on November 25 against the Dallas Stars, his return to the lineup on December 21 against the Vegas Golden Knights was highly anticipated.
Coach Knoblauch has praised Roslovic's impact on the team. "For him to score at the rate he has has been pretty remarkable," Knoblauch told the media. "He's missed some games ... and the fact that he's been able to score quite regularly (is good.) That's something our team needed, some secondary scoring".
Roslovic's offensive capabilities were evident early in his career, particularly during his time with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, where he led the team in scoring with 48 points in 65 games in 2016-17. His best NHL season came in 2021-22 with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he recorded 22 goals and 23 assists. While he possesses the skills to accumulate points, he is still refining the process of maximizing his tools.
Beyond his scoring touch, Roslovic contributes to the Oilers through his strong puck possession, chance creation, and defensive reliability. These elements are particularly valuable on nights when the team's offense isn't at its peak.
While some analysts initially viewed Roslovic as a depth player, his performance has demonstrated his ability to contribute in a top-nine role. His speed and quick release make him a threat in the offensive zone, and his versatility allows him to adapt to different linemates and game situations. As the Oilers continue their pursuit of a Stanley Cup, Jack Roslovic's contributions will be vital in supporting the team's stars and solidifying their overall performance.
