Chris Lynn etched his name into Big Bash League (BBL) history on December 31, 2025, becoming the first player to score 4,000 runs in the competition. The milestone was achieved during the Adelaide Strikers' resounding seven-wicket victory over the Brisbane Heat at Adelaide Oval. Lynn's unbeaten 79 off 41 balls, which included six fours and six sixes, powered the Strikers to their first New Year's Eve win since 2018.

Lynn reached the 4,000-run mark in style, fittingly raising the milestone by hitting Xavier Bartlett for a six. He later brought up his 32nd BBL half-century off 30 balls and finished the match with three consecutive sixes off Matthew Kuhnemann. In 131 BBL matches, Lynn has now scored 4,065 runs at an average of 36.29, including one century and 32 half-centuries.

The Strikers' victory was set up by their bowlers, who skittled the Heat for 121 in 19.4 overs. Jamie Overton (3-19), Liam Scott (2-12), and Hassan Ali (2-29) were the pick of the Strikers' attack.
