Everton eye En-Nesyri: A potential striking solution to boost their attacking firepower and resolve goal drought.

Everton are reportedly targeting Fenerbahçe striker Youssef En-Nesyri to address their ongoing goal-scoring difficulties. The Toffees have reportedly made an official loan offer for the 28-year-old Moroccan international, including an option to make the move permanent for a fee of €20 million. Negotiations between the two clubs are underway.

Everton's need for a consistent goalscorer is evident. This season, Beto and Thierno Barry have struggled to find the net, scoring just five Premier League goals between them. Overall, Everton have only managed 23 goals in 21 matches, highlighting their attacking woes. Recent reports indicate that Barry has begun to find some form, with two goals in his last three appearances; however, the club are still pursuing En-Nesyri to bolster their front line.

En-Nesyri has a proven track record as a goalscorer. Prior to joining Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2024, he scored 73 goals in 196 appearances for Sevilla. Last season, he notched 30 goals in all competitions for the Turkish side. So far this season, he has seven goals in 15 Süper Lig appearances.

However, Everton face competition for En-Nesyri's signature. Nottingham Forest are also reportedly interested in the forward. Despite other offers, it has been reported that En-Nesyri favors a move to Everton. A potential obstacle for any Premier League club is En-Nesyri's reported reluctance to play in colder climates, a factor that could influence his decision.

En-Nesyri is currently representing Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations. Any potential deal will likely wait until after Morocco's participation in the tournament concludes.

Everton reappointed David Moyes as manager in January, replacing Sean Dyche. The club is currently 15th in the Premier League, 17 points above the relegation zone, and are unbeaten in nine Premier League matches. Despite this, their negative goal difference and reliance on goals from defenders, such as Michael Keane, highlight their need for attacking reinforcements.

The signing of En-Nesyri would provide Everton with a much-needed focal point in attack and could potentially elevate their chances of competing for a European spot. The proposed loan deal with an option to buy also allows Everton to assess En-Nesyri's suitability to the Premier League before committing to a permanent transfer.
