Speaking ahead of Manchester City's Premier League clash against West Ham, Guardiola dismissed the rumors, asserting his happiness at the club. He stated, "I am here". Guardiola acknowledged that questions about his future have become a recurring theme in recent years. "The last three or four years every time someone asks me that question," he said. While he admitted that he won't stay at City forever, quipping, "Sooner or later, when I'm 75 or 76, I will quit City," he emphasized his current contentment and commitment.
Guardiola was clear that there have been no discussions about him leaving. "There are no discussions - end of the subject," he declared. He further explained, "I will not be eternal here, none of us will, but there are no discussions". Guardiola stressed the importance of the club being prepared for any eventuality, including changes in players, CEOs, and even ownership, but reiterated that his departure is not currently a topic of discussion. "What is going to happen will happen and the club has to be prepared for everything," Guardiola said. "The club has to be prepared but that subject is not on the table".
Furthermore, Guardiola addressed reports linking Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who previously served as City's assistant during their treble-winning season in 2022/23, with a potential move to Manchester City as his replacement. Guardiola's commitment to Manchester City remains steadfast for the time being. He conveyed his delight and excitement about the team's progress, underscoring his deep connection with the club.
With Manchester City aiming to potentially overtake Premier League leaders Arsenal with a victory against West Ham, Guardiola's focus remains firmly on the present and the challenges ahead.
